1. Overview
These SMS Terms, Conditions, and Privacy (“SMS Terms”) govern your receipt of text messages (SMS/MMS) from Tharros Defense, Inc. (“Tharros,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) and describe how we collect, use, and protect information related to our SMS program. By providing your mobile phone number to Tharros and opting in to receive text messages, you agree to these SMS Terms.
If you do not agree to these SMS Terms, do not opt in to receive text messages from Tharros , or reply STOP to any message you receive to opt out.
2. Program Description
Tharros uses SMS messaging to support one-to-one business communications between Tharros employees and the following recipients:
- Business contacts, including government customers, teaming partners, subcontractors, vendors, and consultants engaged in active or prospective contractual relationships with Tharros.
- Candidates, including individuals who have applied for employment with Tharros, expressed interest in employment opportunities, or engaged with Tharros recruiters regarding open positions.
Messages may include, but are not limited to: meeting confirmations, scheduling coordination, status updates on contracts or applications, interview scheduling, document receipt confirmations, and other direct business communications. Tharros does not use this SMS program for marketing, promotional content, or automated bulk messaging.
3. Consent to Receive Messages
By providing your mobile phone number to Tharros through any of the following methods, you consent to receive SMS messages from Tharros related to the purposes described above:
- Submitting an employment application through the Tharros careers page or an approved third-party job board (including but not limited to LinkedIn, Indeed, and ClearanceJobs);
- Providing your phone number on a business card, signed agreement, proposal submission, contract document, or other written or electronic business correspondence;
- Verbally confirming your phone number during a business meeting, networking event, or recruiting conversation, with acknowledgment that SMS contact may follow;
- Replying to a Tharros message with an opt-in keyword such as START or YES.
Your consent to receive SMS messages is not a condition of employment, candidacy, or any business relationship with Tharros. You may decline SMS contact and request alternative communication methods (email or phone call) at any time without penalty.
4. Message Frequency
Message frequency varies based on the nature of your relationship with Tharros and the specific business or recruiting matter at hand. You will only receive messages relevant to your active engagement with Tharros.
5. Message and Data Rates
Message and data rates may apply. Tharros does not charge you for SMS messages, but your mobile carrier may charge you for sending or receiving text messages, depending on your wireless plan. Please contact your mobile carrier with questions about your plan or any associated charges.
6. Opting Out
You may opt out of receiving SMS messages from Tharros at any time by replying STOP to any message you receive from us. You may also reply with any of the following keywords: END, CANCEL, UNSUBSCRIBE, or QUIT.
After you opt out, you will receive a confirmation message acknowledging your opt-out, and you will not receive further SMS messages from the Tharros number you opted out from. Please note that opting out of SMS does not opt you out of other forms of communication (such as email or phone calls) related to your business relationship or candidacy.
If you wish to opt back in, reply START to the number that previously sent you messages.

8. Supported Carriers
SMS messages from Tharros are compatible with major U.S. mobile carriers, including AT&T, Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile, US Cellular, and others. Tharros is not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
9. Privacy and Data Handling
This section describes how Tharros collects, uses, and protects information in connection with the SMS program.
9.1 Information We Collect
In connection with the SMS program, Tharros collects:
- Mobile phone numbers that you provide to us through the channels described in Section 3;
- Message content that you send to or receive from Tharros employees;
- Metadata related to SMS messages, including timestamps, delivery status, and carrier routing information;
- Opt-in and opt-out status and the date and method of consent.
9.2 How We Use Information
Information collected through the SMS program is used solely to:
- Facilitate one-to-one business and recruiting communications between Tharros employees and recipients;
- Maintain records of consent, opt-in, and opt-out status as required by applicable law and carrier requirements;
- Comply with legal, regulatory, and contractual obligations, including those associated with federal contracting;
- Troubleshoot delivery issues and improve the reliability of our SMS communications.
9.3 No Sale or Sharing for Marketing
Mobile information, including phone numbers and SMS opt-in data, will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Tharros does not sell, rent, or trade mobile phone numbers or SMS-related data.
9.4 Service Providers
Tharros uses Microsoft Teams Phone and associated SMS-enabled services to deliver text messages. These service providers process mobile phone numbers and message content solely on our behalf, subject to confidentiality and data protection requirements, and are not permitted to use SMS data for their own purposes. Information may also be processed by mobile carriers in the course of delivering messages.
9.5 Data Retention
Tharros retains SMS-related information for as long as necessary to support the business or recruiting relationship, comply with legal and regulatory recordkeeping requirements, and demonstrate consent. Records of opt-out requests are retained indefinitely to ensure ongoing compliance with your opt-out preference.
9.6 Data Security
Tharros implements administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect mobile information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and SMS messaging in particular is not an encrypted or secure communication channel. Do not transmit sensitive, confidential, classified, or controlled information (including but not limited to Controlled Unclassified Information, sensitive personal information, financial account details, or social security numbers) via SMS. Use approved secure communication channels for any such information.
9.7 Your Rights
You may, at any time:
- Opt out of SMS messages by replying STOP (see Section 6);
- Request information about the mobile data Tharros holds about you;
- Request correction or deletion of your mobile information, subject to legal and contractual recordkeeping obligations;

Residents of certain U.S. states (including California, Virginia, and others) may have additional rights under applicable state privacy laws. Tharros will honor those rights as required by law.
9.8 Children’s Privacy
The SMS program is not directed to individuals under the age of 18. Tharros does not knowingly collect mobile information from individuals under 18.
10. Eligibility
To receive SMS messages from Tharros, you must be at least 18 years of age and the authorized account holder of, or have permission to use, the mobile phone number you provide. By opting in, you represent and warrant that you meet these eligibility requirements.
11. Changes to These SMS Terms
Tharros may update these SMS Terms from time to time. The most current version will always be posted at tharrosdefense.com/sms-terms. Your continued participation in the SMS program after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated SMS Terms. Material changes will be communicated to active SMS recipients where reasonably practicable.
12. Disclaimer
SMS messages from Tharros are provided on an “as available” basis. Tharros makes no warranties regarding the timeliness, reliability, or availability of SMS messages. Tharros is not responsible for the security of SMS messages once transmitted to your mobile carrier or device.
13. Governing Law
These SMS Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maryland, without regard to its conflict of laws principles. Any disputes arising from these SMS Terms or the SMS program shall be resolved in accordance with the dispute resolution provisions of any applicable agreement between you and Tharros, or, in the absence of such agreement, in the state or federal courts located in Maryland.
